Healthcare is on a critical path, evolving with the introduction of Obama Care and now COVID-19. How will healthcare and specifically healthcare security adapt over the next few years? What tools will be necessary for healthcare security professionals and all security professionals to meet the demands of the transforming security environment? Security professionals need new tools and programs to adapt security services to the ＂New Normal.＂ As healthcare emerges from pandemic threats, active shooter and workplace violence will re-emerge and new threats related to civil unrest, fraud, mergers, and further financial struggles will change how healthcare security will function.

Healthcare Security: Solutions for Management, Operations, and Administration provides a series of articles related to the management and operations of healthcare security which will assist healthcare security professionals in managing the ＂New Normal＂ now and into the future. It is a collection of previously published articles on healthcare security and general security covering various topics related to the management of healthcare security and provides information on general security operations. It also includes unconventional topics that are necessary in the administration of healthcare security such as auditing principles, fraud prevention, investigations, interview and interrogation techniques, and forensics.

Anthony Luizzo, PhD, CFE, CST, (Ret. NYPD) is on the board of advisors for Vault Verify, LLC. He is the former Director of Security Programming for the NYC Mayor’s Office of Economic Development and Business Services, former Corporate Director of Security/Loss Preventions for the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation, President Emeritus of the NY Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, past President of the Society of Professionals Investigators, and former editorial advisory board member for Reuters/WG&RIA Group-Thomas Publications.

Bernard J. (Ben) Scaglione, CPP, CHPA, CHSP, is principal of The Secure Hospital a blogging and resource management site. Ben is author of the book, ＂Security Management for Healthcare: Proactive Event Prevention and Effective Resolution.＂ He has a master’s degree from Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice and has served as a security director for more than 25 years in New York City area hospitals, including New York Presbyterian, Bellevue, and Atlantic Health System. Ben has served in multiple capacities for International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) over the past 10 years, including several councils, committees, and the IAHSS Board of Directors. He is past Chairman of the ASIS International Healthcare Council and past President of the New York City Metropolitan Healthcare Safety and Security Directors Association. Ben is a past columnist for Security Magazine and a frequent contributor to the Journal of Healthcare Protection Management. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at Pratt Institute, Interboro Institute, New Jersey City University, and John Jay College Peace Officer Academy.
