Fruits and Their Roles in Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods

Adequate intake of fruits has been linked with the reduction in the risk of chronic diseases and maintenance of body weight. This book covers recent research related to the bioactive compounds present in the fruits.

Dr. Sajad Ahmad Wani is currently working as post-doctoral fellow in the department of Food Technology, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, J&K, India. He has completed his Master’s Degree in Food Technology from IUST, Awantipora, J&K, India and PhD from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjab, India. Qualified National Eligibility Test (2015) (NET)conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in Dec 2015. He has published more than 35 research/review articles, 10 book chapters and 2 books. He is also writing articles for the popular magazines Food & Beverage News (India’s First Magazine for Food & Beverage Industry). He has attended 50 National and 20 International conferences, seminars and workshops throughout the world. Dr. Wani has participated in various faculty development programmes. Dr. Wani serves as Honorary Associate editor of esteemed International Journal of Food Science and Technology, Wiley. He is Potential Peer Reviewer of reputed International Journals related to Food Science and Technology that belong to popular publishing house viz. Elsevier, Taylor-Francis, Wiley, Springer etc. He is also working as member of various associations like IFT, IFERP, International Association for Agricultural Sustainability, AFSTI, Asia Society of Researchers and Asian Council of Science Editors. Dr. Wani is the recipient of prestigious fellowships ＂D. S. Kothari post-doctoral Felllowship-2021, and Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF-2013-14), from University Grant Commission, India.

Dr. Jasmeet Kour completed her Master’s Degree in Food Science and Technology from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu University, Jammu and Kashmir, India. She was awarded doctoral degree at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal, Sangrur, Punjab, India from Department of Food Engineering and Technology. She has been serving as an assistant professor at the Department of Food Science and Technology, Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir since 2009. She has conducted her vast research in various prominent nutraceuticals derived from plant origin and her work has been published in reputed journals with high impact factors in eminent publishing houses in the field of food science. She has done her research and review paper presentations in various national and international conferences. She has authored as well as co-authored numerous book chapters and scientific articles published in international books with prestigious publishing names such as Elsevier and Springer as well. She is also a part of various international projects. As her research work left a great imprint, she was cordially invited to share her newest research findings at Tokyo University of Agriculture, Japan at the 6th International Conference on Agricultural and Biological Sciences (ABS 2020). She is currently working as editorial board member and peer reviewer of various journals of international repute. Lastly, she is already submitted book entitled ＂NUTRACEUTICALS AND HEALTH CARE＂ in none other than ELSEVIER publishing house. Apart from this, she has another pivotal mega book project entitled ＂Handbook of Plant and Animal Toxins in Food: Occurrence, Toxicity, and Prevention＂ in press in CRC press (Taylor and Francis group).

Dr. Raees ul Haq has been awarded with Ph.D. degree from the Department of Food Engineering and Technology of Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal, Sangrur, Punjab, India. He has completed his Master’s Degree in Food Technology from Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, J&K, India. He has authored as well as coauthored different chapters for edited books published by prominent international publishers. Dr.Raees has presented his research work at various national and international conferences, seminars and workshops. He is actively engaged with the scientific community by publishing his work as well as working as editorial member and peer reviewer of reputed international journals. He has been the recipient of Maulana Azad National Fellowship awarded by University Grants Commission (UGC) and has published a good number of research as well as review articles in reputed journals.

Mohamed S. Elshikh, is a PhD. Researcher at King Saud University, College of Science, Botany and Microbiology Department. He has completed his master’s degree in 2016 and is currently pursuing PhD in Plant Taxonomy and Bioinformatics from King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has attended 15 national and 10 International conferences, seminars and workshops throughout the world. He has published more than 120 papers in ISI journals. He is Potential Peer Reviewer of various reputed International Journals related to Botany and biotechnology that belong to popular publishing house viz. Elsevier, Taylor-Francis, Wiley, Springer etc.
