Carolyn M. Byerly is Professor Emerita in Communication, Howard University, USA. She is the author of many articles and book chapters, as well as editor, co-editor, or author of several books, including The Palgrave Handbook of Women in Journalism (2013), Women and Media: A Critical Introduction (2006) and Women and Media: International Perspectives (2004). Her scholarship as a critical feminist scholar has examined women’s media employment, communication policies, media ownership, and other topics from a political economy perspective.
