O.P. Mishra is a Fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India (F.N.A.Sc.) for his pioneering work involving Applied Geophysics / Seismology / Disaster Risk Management having over 32-years of experience in different field of earth sciences and seismology and exploration Geophysics. Presently, he is working with Ministry of Earth Sciences as Adviser / Scientist G & Director, National Centre for Seismology. He obtained M.Sc. Tech degree from IIT (ISM)-Dhanbad in Applied Geophysics; Ph.D.; D.Sc. from Geodynamics Research Centre, Japan in Seismology; PGDMA from AIMA, New Delhi in Finance Management. Dr. Mishra worked with: IDRC-Canada in a joint venture project with CMPDIL, Coal India during 1992 - 1995; served Geological Survey of India for about 20-years (1995 - 2014). He worked with SAARC Disaster Management Centre, New Delhi as the Head / Director; He also worked at GRC-Japan as the FOREIGN Visiting Guest Professor. He has honor to represent SAARC Member Nations to different UNOs agencies, such as UNDP; UNESCAP; UNISDR; UNOCHA; UNHABITAT. Dr. Mishra also contributed to IRP; ADPC; ADRC, USAID; ECO as the invited Panelist and he contributed significantly in the field of Disaster Risk Management. He is a widely travelled scientist / academician, and professional to different countries of the world having credentials to execute challenging projects funded by the UNISDR, and the World Bank for Disaster risk resiliency for South Asia and Earthquake Early Warning System. He is a LIFE Member of several professional bodies of international Repute of India and abroad. He is recipient of several awards and Honors, including National Mineral Award-2008 for Disaster Risk Management in Applied Geosciences by the Govt. of India; Anni Talwani Gold Medal by Indian Geophysical Union; A.S. Arya Award by IIT-Roorkee. Dr. Mishra has supervised and guided a total of 50- students and researchers for their higher study during Master and Doctoral courses, including 10- Scholars for Ph.D degree from various Universities of India. He has more than 150-research publications, including edited books/reports/special issues/ roadmaps on various themes of DRR / in peered reviewed journals of national and international repute.
D.C. Naskar received M.Sc. degree in Physics from Calcutta University. He was conferred with doctorate degrees from Jadavpur University. He has experience in the diverse fields including teaching and technical streams of different institutes at state and central level in India. Dr. D.C. Naskar has a total of 32 years (1989-2021) of experience in the field of exploration geophysics at different capacities in Geological Survey of India (GSI) where he deployed different geophysical methods in the Indian sub-continent for resolving various geological problems associated with mineral exploration and to understand geodynamical processes. He was conferred upon "H. S. Pareek Award for the best research paper on coal science published in the Journal of Geological Society of India". He has published 100 research publications in recognized national and international journals, seminars, workshops and several GSI unpublished reports on mineral exploration, structural and tectonic studies, groundwater investigations, environmental studies and geophysical mapping in different parts of the country. Presently he is serving in National Centre for Seismology (NCS), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), New Delhi as Consultant to plan and assist in carrying out seismological studies related to installation of seismological observatory for seismological research.
