Karan Sotoodeh, an Iranian author and engineer, used to work for Baker Hughes in his last position as a senior/lead valve and actuator engineer in the subsea oil and gas industry. He got a doctor of philosophy in safety and reliability in mechanical engineering from the University of Stavanger in 2021. Karan Sotoodeh has close to two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, mainly with valves, piping, actuators, and material engineering. He has written 11 books about piping, valves, actuators, corrosion, and material selection and approximately 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has also been selected for international conferences in USA, Germany, and China to talk about valves, actuators, and piping. Karan Sotoodeh has worked with many valve suppliers in Europe in countries like UK, Italy, France, Germany, and Norway. He loves traveling, running, swimming, and spending time in nature.
