The unprecedented uncertainties marked by the pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war and the war in Gaza have redirected our attention to the importance of partnerships and engagements in international relations.

India-EU dialogues through the annual summits have familiarized each other with a greater understanding of one another’s perspectives and interests. Their strategic engagement has broadened in the last few years to include climate change, energy, connectivity, migration, education, science and technology, and research and innovation. The growing convergence in Brussels and New Delhi’s strategic interests opens up new windows of opportunities for greater cooperation on diversified issues. Neeta Inamdar is Professor and Head of the Manipal Centre for European Studies (MCES), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, India. She was instrumental in establishing MCES in 2009 and since then has led it through the years to make it a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence that offers the only master programme in European Studies in India. She has been a recipient of the Jean Monnet module and Jean Monnet Chair.

Praveen Shetty is Assistant Professor at the Department of Humanities and Management, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal, India. He teaches communication skills in English and Intercultural Studies at MIT, Manipal, India and also teaches select modules at Manipal Centre for European Studies (MCES) on topics related to European identity, theories of literature and culture. His research area is Intercultural Communications focused on multiculturalism and diversity.

Priya Vijaykumar Poojary is Lecturer and Research Scholar at MCES, Manipal, India. She holds a Master’s degree in European Studies from MAHE and a second Master’s in International Relations from Metropolitan University Prague (MUP). Her teaching and research interest include European politics, policy-making in the European Union, EU’s foreign policy, India-EU relations, migration governance, and Higher Education Regionalism.
