Membrane Separation in Wastewater Purification and Biotechnology Application

Provides applications of membrane technology in areas from wastewater treatment to several biomedical applications. Limitations in this process are managed by integrating technologies to provide best outcome.The machine learning startegy is included to control membrane process and understand the noises creating disturbance.

Dr. Dwaipayan Sen is with the Department of Chemical Engineering, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, India, where he has been serving as an Assistant Professor since 2015. Prior to this, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Agartala, India, since 2012. He also spent a little less than 2 years in industry before completing his doctoral degree from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 2012. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in 2003 and master’s degree from the same university in 2006. He has been a Life Member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Kolkata Division since 2012. He has had several publications in peer reviewed journals such as RSC Advances, J. of Membrane Science, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, and several others. He has co-authored several book chapters along with a book and significant research publications. He has also co-authored 3 contributions to the ＂Encyclopaedias of Membranes＂ (Editors: Enrico Drioli, Lidietta Giorno). Currently, his group is working on biofuel, the use of membranes to enhance antibody specificity, and membrane applications for the separation of polyaromatics from oily wastewater. He has been recognized with several awards from industry and academia in his career. Recently, in 2021, he received the ＂Most Cited Review Paper Award＂ award from the International J of Green Energy (Taylor and Francis) at the 13th International Green Energy Conference (Virtual), July, 2021, in Tianjin, China.

Dr. Ankita Mazumder is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia, India. She got her PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2021 from Jadavpur University, after completing her undergraduate (B.Tech) and master’s (M.Tech) degrees in Chemical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Agartala in 2013 and 2015, respectively. She is actively involved in research and teaching related to wastewater treatment, reclamation and reuse, hybrid advanced membrane separation technologies, and value-added resource recovery. She has authored several research articles in reputed international journals and also published quite a few book chapters. She has also presented several papers in national and international conferences. She has received several awards in her field including the Gold medallist award in B.Tech (2013) and Icon SWM-Springer Excellent Paper Award at the7th International Conference on Solid Waste Management 2017 held at Hyderabad, India. She is an Associate Member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers.
