Articulations, a Radical Methodology for Black Pedagogy: Redefining Education Through Black Women’s Hair Experiences

This book pioneers a comprehensive exploration of how Black women educators navigate societal stigmas surrounding their natural hairstyles. It unveils the complexities of their hair journey and its profound influence on their teaching methodologies. It challenges conventional narratives by centring Black women educators’ lived experiences.

Eghosa Obaizamomwan-Hamilton is a Black motherscholar and Clinical Associate at Stanford University. She is co-founder of Making Us Matter and co-founding editor of The Black Educology Journal, a collective promoting liberation and visibility for Black communities. Her scholarship investigates the complex intersections of race, identity, gender, and education, and is published in peer-reviewed journals such as Harvard Educational Review, Equity & Excellence in Education, Race Ethnicity and Education, and Educational Studies. Her research interests center on Black educational studies, Black methodologies, social reproduction, and critical pedagogy. With over 17 years of experience--her writing, teaching, and research meet at the intersections.
