Challenging Cases in Geriatric Medicine

Geriatric medicine is challenging - people present with multiple problems at the same time, and case studies provide a good way to discuss this complexity. This book describes 30 cases of older people with frailty presenting to acute medical services.

Dr Henry Woodford was born in York and trained in medicine at King’s College London. He is currently employed as a consultant geriatrician at Northumbria Healthcare in the northeast of England. He has a particular interest in medicine optimisation for older people and is current chair of the relevant British Geriatrics Society special interest group. Other publications include the textbooks Essential Geriatrics and co-authoring Geriatric Medicine: 300 Specialty Certificate Exam Questions. Outside of work, he tries to keep fit through circuit training, running and indoor bouldering.

Dr Francis Collin was born in Nottingham and trained in medicine at the University of Bristol. He works as a Consultant Geriatrician at Northumbria Healthcare and has a particular interest in liaison working having worked as an orthogeriatrician and set up surgical geriatrics and community-based intermediate care services. Outside of work he is a husband and father to two wonderful children and still plays Ultimate Frisbee internationally, having represented Great Britain.
