Medical Ethics in the Catholic Tradition: Perspectives from Philosophy, Theology, Medicine, and the Law

This book is a comprehensive survey and a sustained treatment of the major topics in contemporary medical ethics from within the Roman Catholic tradition. It brings together perspectives from philosophy, theology, medicine, and law to explore the traditions that undergird Catholic medical ethics.

Margaret M. Hogan is the inaugural holder of the McNerney-Hanson Endowed Chair in Ethics at the University of Portland. She is also the Founding Director of the Garaventa Center for Catholic Intellectual Life and American Culture. She is a fellow of the Notre Dame Center for Ethics and Culture.

Edward M. Hogan is the Academic Dean and Associate Professor of Systematic Theology at Kenrick Glennon Seminary, USA. He is also director of the Pontifical Paul VI Institute of Catechetical and Pastoral Studies for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. He serves on the Vision Team for the Archdiocese.

Annique K. Hogan is the Medical Director of the Compass Care Program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Associate Professor at Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. She serves as a member of the faculty for the Medical Humanities Program in the Collegium Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.

Matthew J.D. Hogan is Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Government Affairs Compliance at Aramark. He was a partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius law firm in Philadelphia. He served as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania
