Landing at a distant mining colony, career pilot Hera Voss has no greater desire than to be forgotten. After overhearing a cryptic and disturbing conversation way above her pay grade, she had no choice but to abandon her entire life and escape aboard a stolen corvette. When her former employer, Pinnacle Corp., pursues her across thousands of light years and attacks the colony with an orbital strike, it becomes clear keeping a low profile isn’t going to cut it.

Her only lead is to determine the purpose behind the ominous research ship her squadron was ordered to defend. As others, willing or not, are drawn into her plight, they form a diverse crew with different skills and backgrounds.
