Du Bois and Education

This book details the life and works of W. E. B. Du Bois as they relate to his views on society, politics, race, and education. Author Carl Grant begins with a broad overview of Du Bois’ life and scholarship, before turning more specifically to DuBois’ theory of an educational system which would provide racial uplift and help African Americans to combat social injustices. The book concludes with an examination of Du Bois’ curriculum model predicated upon the work of the NAACP, the Harlem Renaissance, and DuBois’ own writings, as well as a discussion of the lasting legacy of DuBois’ educational and social theory in the present day.
