Attending a Jane Austen festival in Bath in the hopes of distracting herself from her unemployment and uncertain relationship, dedicated fan Elizabeth Parker meets a self-proclaimed Austen expert who suggests that a darker secondary story is hidden within each Austen novel and that he knows unsettling truths about the famed author's death.
