Mount Hope at 926 Balsam Avenue is the story of a small rural cemetery in Iowa that can only be truly appreciated once the history of what it represents is known. Mount Hope is the eternal home of several pioneers who settled the land in the southwest corner of the newly established Franklin County in the 1850s and 1860s. The book includes a brief history of the early pioneers of Iowa with a focus on those that settled in Morgan Township where Mount Hope Cemetery is located. From there it transitions to the history of Mount Hope with profiles of the early pioneers and their family members that are buried within its gates. Three appendices are provided that contain additional information related to Mount Hope, Morgan Township 1856 Census Data, and the six generations of the Whipple family that are buried at Mount Hope.
