Safe Harbor: Wandering the Boston Waterfront as the Sea Rises

In summer, superyachts jam the marinas. In winter storms, Boston’s regional food distribution center can become part of the North Atlantic. Once famed for pollution, the harbor is clean enough for whales and whimbrels, and the islands are public parks with festivals in the summer. South Boston’s Seaport Neighborhood has been rebuilt as Manhattan on a mudflat, with little public transportation and no schools or libraries or anything to welcome people of color or anyone on a budget. But the city is working furiously to guard its 47-mile shoreline against sea level rise and the coming megastorms. Welcome to this scrapbook about wandering Boston harbor on foot and kayak!
