I’m sure you’ve heard this cliché: “Think of your life’s journey as a river.” Therapists and Self-help gurus use it all the time. Well, I have my own cliché: “Rivers are created by God’s tears.” I believe in both cliches. I grew up encircled by rivers – the Missouri and the Sun. I grew up fly-fishing. I grew up dreaming and grew older destroying. For drunks destroy both dreams and lives. God’s tears. Recovery is God’s joy.
But, my story isn’t just about addiction – it’s about trying and failing, loving and losing, fighting and dying, east coast and west, liberals and rednecks, enemies and friends, tornadoes and a car flying off the edge of the world. My story is a puzzle, told in pieces, which you must complete.
