The Old Lady

Mildred has seen many winters through her high window, watched friends and family come and go with the decades. But through it all the old house never let her down, kept her warm and safe from the world outside. Now Mildred and the house are feeling their age, and the old woman sees the end coming for them both. Her granddaughter has many years and a bright future ahead of her, and Mildred wants more than anything to leave something behind for the girl. On this cold winter night she has a plan, one she hopes will make everything right and mean a new life for them both.
