Amelia felt the pillow, the sheets, the morning sun through the window shade. She was waking up in her very own bed! Halloween was still asleep beside her, an orange, tan and black ball of fur. Lazily, peacefully Amelia listened to the morning sounds made by Duncan and Ms. Kay. Clattering dishes, scurryings to and fro, one saying, "where on earth is my other earring? The other saying, "Did you put my notebook somewhere?" Toast smell, coffee smell, eggfrying smell. "Hey there Amelia," called her mother, "you going to sleep all day?" Well, she was home all right. Time to go to school, and a million other things that had to be done. For a second she thought back with pleasure on the Land of Dreams. Then she jumped out of bed and got ready to meet the day.
