“Native Son” by Richard Wright was first published in 1940. It was originally the title of Nelson Algren’s first novel, “Somebody in Boots.” The story of that novel was based on a piece of doggerel about the first Texan.
In the year 1933, Algren and Wright met at John Reed Club and then they worked together at a project. It is said that Nelson Algren gave the title “Native Son” to Richard Wright.
