Carmen Polychronopoulos is a national merit scholar and a highly exceptional high school senior, but she has a terrible secret. Elliot Sharples is the young, disfigured custodian who adores her. Carmen and Elliot are two bruised and broken people who find one another and take comfort there, mustering the kind of strength together that they would never have as individuals. Elliot devises a plan to take Carmen away from the miserable life she has had to live, and her very survival depends on the plan’s success.
