“The Help” by Kathryn Stockett was first published in 2009. The story is set in the early 1960s. The story revolves around the African-American maids who work in the houses of the white people in Jackson, Mississippi.
It is the author’s first novel. After the publication of the book, there was appreciation from the critics and reviewers from around the world. Atlanta Journal Constitution admired the book by mentioning that “This heartbreaking story is a stunning debut from a gifted talent.”
