Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll), one of the most accomplished and well known photographers of the 19th century, took approximately 3000 photographs in his life time of which approximately 1580 prints and 71 glass negatives exist. Over 200 of these photographs are included in this book, including 8 which have never before been published. Few books which feature his photographs focus exclusively on young people and, especially, his sometimes controversial and occasionally haunting photographs of girls in their mid-20s and younger - by far his favorite subject. And unlike most books of Carroll photography, this one is organized by the name of the sitter, enabling, thereby, easy comparison of photographs of the same individual. The book opens with a biography of Carroll and has biographical sketches of some of his sitters as well. - Table of Contents (136 / 2500) Preface Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) Carroll’s Photographic Sitters Index of Surnames of Sitters and of other Significant Individuals
