Three Sisters

This version of The Three Sisters has been radically re-worked. It is set in modern day Russia, with modern language and it re-imagines the sisters’ dreams and the world around them.

This compelling version of the Russian classic by renowned Australian director Benedict Andrews premiered at the Young Vic on 8 September 2012. Benedict Andrew’s version of Three Sisters was third in the Guardian’s top ten best theatre picks of 2012.

Benedict Andrews is one of the most sought after Australian theatre directors of his generation. He is known for his startling adaptations from the classical repertoire alongside plays by contemporary dramatists. His adaptations include a marathon production of Shakespeare’s history plays, The Wars of the Roses (with Cate Blanchett), and a version of Chekhov’s The Seagull. His play Every Breath premiered at Sydney’s Belvoir Street in 2012.
