Lily Vincent is driving on a winding mountain road when she sees a guy in a cast trying to change his tire. Cade No-Last-Name isn't that friendly or forthcoming, something she blames on his discomfort at being helped by a girl. Well, that's fine with her. She's not looking for love, anyway, which is why her blurted suggestion that he buy her a coffee as thanks, shocks her as much as it does him. Cade's mumbled excuse and hasty getaway tell her that they'll probably never see each other again.
But Moonrise Ridge is a small town, and she soon sees him and some guys at a local pub. Naturally she walks over to congratulate him for getting his cast off. His answer? "Baby, you've got the wrong guy."
Lily knows that's not true, which leaves her wondering-- Is he forgetful, shy, rude? Or is there actually a reason he's pretending he doesn't know her? A reason that has something to do with his rowdy companions?
