This is the 5th novel in the Andy North Crime Series - part of the Alphabetical Thrillers. It is early November and heavy snow comes to the High Peaks of England. Astrid Kristiansen, the County Assistant Pathologist, a Norwegian who doesn't like snow and ice, asks her lover, Detective Inspector Andy North, to drive her over the Peaks to a town beyond where she has two autopsies to carry out. As he drives over the highest point of the Peaks, he spots something in the snow that may be a dead person. When he investigates, it is a dead person, a young boy, face down in the snow with a very bad gash across his brow. Local police come out and they find a van lying on its side in the deep snow; when Major Crimes arrive they find out that the dead boy went through the windscreen. But when they force the double-locked back doors of the van the find five skimpily dressed dead teenagers. Why are they there; where were they going, where did they come from, who sent them, who locked them in; who was waiting for them when they arrived. Andy North and his team set out to find out the answers; the investigation takes Andy and his assistant, Detective Sergeant Ellie Tonbridge to the Norfolk coast and into the city of Manchester. Andy, rude, explosive, dismissive of authority, obsessed, sets out on a mission to discover answers to all the questions. Another superb S.D. Gripton crime novel. No 5 in the Alphabet Thriller Series
