In 2118 a Rift starship discovers that humans have invaded a planet they consider theirs. The humans are judged extremely dangerous and must be eliminated. It will take a while for them to return to reclaim their property.

LCDR Rick Cassidy and GSGT Molly Pickford have become very important to the New Hope Colony.

By 2126 Gen. Robert Black is the senior officer at Ranger Command and is married to Kelly Cassidy.

Kelly has trained Rick’s daughter Ciara and by age 12 she is an expert shot. Ciara goes to the colony on the starship Asia. She makes friends among the crew and the Rangers competing against them in the ship’s VR trainer.

Rick’s sisters are all going to the colony. Nicole O’Brien is a Colonial Ranger, Chloe. Chloe is also going. Bridget O’Brien is now in Colonial Security.

Maj Naomi MacCaffrey is sent to join the logistics team at the colony on the Amundsen.

Three Rift transports with 30,000 Andoval mercenaries arrive at the colony. They plan to use the humans as food for their Andoval mercenaries.

The Amundsen arrives in the system with 6000 passengers and crew including 500 Rangers under Col Colin Fox.

Rick has a hot tub installed in his residence, a gift from the people he saved three years before.
Amundsen arrives in orbit and its commander Captain Ming spots a strange haze above some islands off the southeast coast of the colony that his sensors cannot penetrate. He tells Colonel Fox who asks Gen Jamison to check out the anomaly.

The New Hope Academy students learn who’s to go on the spring internship tour. They ask their parents for permission to go.
