It’s 2003 in the southern port city of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a city with a thriving lesbian community thanks to the machinations of Mei Fong, an uncannily successful lah-zih (lesbian) who has not only built a business empire from nothing and managed to protect the community from hostility, but has even managed to conceive a child with her wife, Pei, by the ‘power of meditation’ in Australia.
When Mei Fong dies suddenly on a business trip to Beijing, the community is forced to turn its attention to the customs of traditional rural life as Mei Fong is returned to her family in Pingtung where they discover her father intends to marry her to a man posthumously. . . yup, it's a Taiwanese lesbian ghost story.
