Carolyn's best friend is Jamie, sweet and rich and gay, very gay. Not any kind of a problem, except to Carolyn, who's been in love with him since they were kids together, seeking shelter from their awful families. And even then she can live with it - with Jamie's orientation, his one-night-stands, and the occasional casual boyfriend. She's his best friend, and she's secure in that status. Jamie is the world to her, and there's no-one more important than her for him.
Until he meets Walt, who is pretty awful himself. And turns into the kind of boyfriend for Jamie who isn't casual at all. In fact Jamie is madly in love, and won't listen to reason from Carolyn. Not even when Carolyn realises that Walt is straight, and just after Jamie's money.
So Carolyn resolves to do something about it. Jamie belongs to her, in the end, after all... Approximately 8000 words.
