The water was shallow and spotted with pebbles. Skipping on the pebbles, I crossed the river. When I could finally catch my breath and look up to the road, it was empty. The truck was nowhere to be found and my family was gone, forever. "Mo...mmm," I wailed. The cry pierced through the hollow of the valleys and brought back only the echoes from the mountains. Tears streamed down my already wet cheeks. I was alone, exhausted and horrified.
