Searching for My Father

＂My parents divorced when I was seven years old. I went from living on a Marine Corps base in immaculate, military officer’s quarters to living in my great-grandmother’s abandoned house with no electricity, no indoor plumbing, and no father. I’m not sure which of those I missed the most. It got pretty cold peeing in the dark, in a johnny house, in the Shenandoah Valley, in January.＂
