Fear of the dark can be good. Sometimes things lurking in the shadows can be more horrifying than any nightmare. Just ask Annie Gilmour, a nurse and single mother. Annie reluctantly agrees to accompany her new beau and two other couples on a romantic canoeing adventure under an ominous full moon. They set off from Philadelphia to paddle in the eerie pine barrens of New Jersey, home to the mythical Jersey Devil, legendary folklore beast. The secluded forest and mysterious black river make Annie's skin crawl. Her first time in a canoe, Annie paddles in the smothering darkness. She senses danger and sees visions of foreboding violence.
