Clayton Patrick Delices Didier at 72, is a retired Chartered Civil Engineer and CEO of his consulting corporate firm established in 1979. He was born in the Commomwealth of Dominica and educated there and in the United Kingdom where he graduated in Civil Engineering at City University, London in 1966. He has lived in Barbados since 1969 and is much travelled throughout the Caribbean, the U.K. and North America. His hobbies are golf, writing and learning the Spanish Language, including a current translation of this book. His wife, two sons, a daughter and granddaughter make up his family. He has always intended to write the biography of his father The Honourable L.C. Didier, a Mico-trained (Jamaica) teacher. He lived a long, work-filled, upright and disciplined life as headmaster, farmer and politician in the service of ’his people’ of the eastern seaboard of Dominica, the Nature Isle of the Caribbean. Two generations ago, as a strict disciplinarian, community leader, and political Representative, he presaged present day lack of discipline in the youth and society in general; he championed the cause of women in the work place; practised nature conservancy, and immersed himself in community service - still areas of concern and controversy in latter-day and current society. These sterling attributes in the man and the selfless manner in which he shared them have impelled the Author to place them on record. In the Author’s view there is no greater purpose in life than to expend oneself in the service of others. The author intends to continue writing in his retirement.
