Born January 12, 1930 in Woodford County, Kentucky. Moved to Anderson County at age four. First eight grades of school were at the two-room school at Tyrone and the one-room school on the Lock Road that went to Lock #5 on the Kentucky River. Spent one summer working as the assistant lock tender at Lock #5. I was thirteen years old at the time. Moved to Franklin County around 1943. Worked the farms, some construction and joined the Army on August 2, 1947. Retired October 1, 1969. Spent four tours in Korea, three tours in Germany, one tour in Vietnam. Spent some time at Ft. Knox, Kentucky - Ft. Sam Huston, Texas - Ft. Hood, Texas twice - Ft. Belvoir, Virginia twice - Ft. Eustis, Virginia - Ft. Lee, Virginia - Sandia Base in New Mexico - Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona - Japan - Camp Stolman, California - Ft.Lewis, Washington and Ft. George Mead in New Jersey. After retirement, worked as day manager of a liquor store for ten months. I did not like working inside, so went to work for the Transportation Cabinet as a truck driver in highway maintenance. I was on this job for 19* years when I got sick and had to retire. Started writing short stories in February 1997 as a hobby. This book is a collection of these stories written over the last few years. They are all true and there is no fiction. My real passion these days is raising a garden and lots of time on the lakes fishing for catfish.
