In book one Rebecca contemplates how to end her twenty year loveless marriage to her abusive but very wealthy husband, Marcus. During a home invasion, Marcus is brutally assaulted and after remains of an American male matching his description are found in the Mexican desert, he is presumed dead. In this sequel, Rebecca believing Marcus is dead and she and her two children are finally free from his abuse, attempts to settle his estate and move on with her life.
