On Language, Democracy, and Social Justice: Noam Chomsky’s Critical Intervention

This work collects dialogues conducted over a period of about a decade between educational scholar Orelus, who produced the book, and the more famous linguist and political dissident, Noam Chomsky. Orelus’s intention in producing the work is to highlight the ways in which Chomsky has influenced certain political scholars and intervened in public debate on social justice issues. Particular issues addressed include ＂unbalanced relationships between dominant and subjugated languages, democratic schooling, neoliberalism, colonization, and the harmful effect of Western globalization on developing countries.＂ Annotation ©2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
