Plot Summary: Jelly Bread and Water Juice is an inspirational tribute to the author's memory of her grandmother. The main character takes us into an imaginary journey through oceans, skies, jungles, mountains, secret gardens and finally into the loving arms of Grandma. The author recalls her favorite moments from childhood that were spent with her Grandmother, Amy McNeil. The vivid colors, sounds, textures, tastes and smells from grandmother's home come alive in this imaginary tale. One of the most significant memories of that house was the backyard. This brick "row" style home featured the loveliest backyard with a grape arbor, stone pool and a swing made by the author's uncle. The yard also featured a lovely garden filled with huge sunflowers and geraniums that "Grandma Amy" so carefully tended to. The garden was where Lora would spend most weekday afternoons playing and talking to the neighbor's dog..."Queenie."
