Peter Dut was born in Sudan and after his father was killed by rebels, he began his quest to flee to Kenya at 10 years of age. He was then adopted by the United States Government and brought to the United States and settled in Phoenix, Arizona and earned a college degree. He later returned to Sudan as a grown man, took a wife and has had two boys. He continues to live in Phoenix, where he hopes to bring his wife and children back to America so they, too, can share in the American dream. Rhettman A. Mullis, Jr., a minister and child therapist, met Peter Dut in college and continues to maintain that friendship and has worked on occasion with the Sudanese refugee population in America.
