Born in 1975, a month before the Fall of Saigon, she and her family escape to America. Now in her mid-twenties, with a promising career at the prestigious Geohazards Institute, she lives in southern California with her aging mother and too-perfect sister. Exploring the relationship between mothers and daughters, sisters, and lovers, Mai’s search for truth and meaning proves alternately funny and heart-breaking.

＂A Time of Fruit＂ is Ms. Mann’s first novel. She currently lives in San Diego, California with her family and pet cat, Rosey.
