Ole Morgensen is a Danish barrister in his mid-seventies, who has known tragedy and fortune in equal terms. Used to being in control, he now finds himself in hospital, convalescing after a brain tumor operation while raising questions about the patient’s right to choose -or refuse- treatment. Although he is still calm, lucid and opinionated, we witness his physical deterioration as he becomes needy and vulnerable. By revisiting his past and reexamining his relationships with his three adult sons, his third wife, his gay lover Ralph, his no-nonsense sister, his longtime friend Erika, and above all, with Cecille, he takes us through a kaleidoscope of thought-provoking emotions.
