Gurney Close is a small, recently-built cul-de-sac in Gloucestershire. Three nice houses and bungalow overlooking the river Wye. What better way for everyone—three married couples and a divorcee—to get acquainted than a block party? But on the morning after, the charming, utterly ordinary Robin Durkin is found garroted. Apart from his devastated wife, he was surrounded on all sides by perfect strangers. Superintendent John Lambert and Detective Sergeant Bert Hook beg to differ. Each neighbor had ties with the victim. And they’re far from perfect. Including Durkin himself.
