Gene Cryer spent thirty-eight years as a journalist, and many of his experiences in journalism have provided the threads from which Follow the Dollar and other mysteries to follow can be woven. Since retiring as a journalist, Cryer has taught at Florida Atlantic University and done workshops for the Florida Center for the Book and the National Writers Workshop. He also served as president of the Writers’ Network of South Florida for eight years. He was honored as an outstanding alumnus of Southern Illinois University, has been a Pulitzer juror, was president of the Illinois AP Editors Association and has won awards as a journalist, a manager and a short story writer. Cryer also is an accomplished horseman, winning a dozen national and world titles in non-pro western pleasure.
