Gene Cryer spent 38 years as a journalist, concluding with 15 as editor/vice president of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Ft. Lauderdale. Since retiring, he has worked on several novels, taught as an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University, conducted editing workshops for the Florida Center for the Book and is immediate past president of the Writers’ Network of South Florida. Cryer worked as a reporter and editor at several Illinois newspapers prior to joing the Sun-Sentinel. He has been a Pulitzer juror and won awards as a journalist and short story writer. He also has been an active horseman as an exhibitor and breeder, winning a dozen national and world titles in non-pro western pleasure.
