Paul Halter was born in Hagenau, Alsace, France in 1956. He is a best-selling novelist with over 30 titles to his credit, the vast majority being ’locked-room’ or ’impossible crime’. He is viewed as the natural successor to John Dickson Carr. This is the first of his novels to be published in English. His short story collection ’The Night of the Wolf’ appeared in English in 2006 to critical acclaim.
