Computer software development is big business, and the giant of the software world is Global Industries, Inc. Global's huge military software program is a target for thieves, saboteurs, and terrorists. In their hands, this software would spell untold riches, unlimited power, and the possible destruction of the United States. Mike Welling's job as Global's new technical security chief is to make sure that no unauthorized software leaves company property. But . . . there are things he doesn't know, things that were happening before he was hired . . . Following an auto accident, Welling discovers that the operation performed on him was not as the doctor described. As his suspicions are confirmed, he is torn between a desire to continue the investigation himself, or hand the task over to his superiors and the authorities. Unfortunately, his ego and his proud company standing prevent him from choosing the latter. As the plot thickens and he is drawn deeper, retreat becomes impossible, especially when he is mysteriously urged to continue.
