The Wilmans Family records the lives of three generations of the Wilmans family and their children: Frederick Augustus Wilmans, a Germans emigrant who lived in the United States by 1800 married Elizabeth (Ivins) They first lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but later settled in White County, Illinois. One of his sons, Caleb Ivins Wilmans married Elizabeth Ann Lloyd Ridgway. They lived in Wayne County until Caleb left for California during the 1949 gold Rush. His children did not stay in Illinois. In addition to family that lived in Lassen and Plumas County, California, Caleb descendants worked in mines in Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Alaska and Arizona. Several of Caleb’s sons and son in-laws served in the Civil War. A daughter, Helen Wilmans became a well known author. Caleb Ivins daughter, Julia Wilmans married John M. Bass. Both John and his son, Frederick Arthur Bass were miners.
