In this moving and humorous memoir, Ellen Leslie reflects on her life as a schoolgirl, college student, teacher, wife, mother, and jazz singer. Now nearly 80 and newly widowed, she contemplates a future without the love of her life.

Ellen Leslie was a stay-at-home mom who occasionally filled in as a substitute teacher at the senior high level. When her youngest child was in junior high school, Ellen accepted a position in the office of alumni relations at the University of Northern Iowa, her alma mater. She thoroughly enjoyed her 14-year career as a university administrator, capped by a stint at the University of San Diego. Ellen stays active by joining friends five days a week for a three-mile walk. She also sings in a church choir, plays piano concerts as a care center volunteer, and kicks up her heels in a weekly tap dancing class. She resides in San Diego, where she enjoys the temperate climate and visits from her four children and eight grandchildren.
