With only one month’s difference in age and similar backgrounds—country born and raised—we always found interesting things to talk about and stories to tell. Over the years, as we swapped stories of our upbringings, Charles insisted that I put some of my experiences on paper. We were concerned that with the passage of time they would be lost, as much of our family history has been. The process of writing this has been a journey into my past and I hope you enjoy the trip with me.
