Kit DeCanti is a Northern California girl, who has loved mysteries since the 1950s, when she and her siblings spent the hot California summers inventing mysteries to solve. Kit has dabbled in writing since 3rd grade-- some 50 years ago-- and was first published when a teacher submitted an essay she wrote about Navajo Indians to the local newspaper. Kit refers to herself as a ’late bloomer’ because, although she has written since she was eight years old, she was almost sixty before her first novel was published, kick-starting her Cobb Mt Mystery Series. Kit credits her move to Lake County California for activating her prolific career as an author, "I started painting and writing almost before I unpacked. Just one drive around Clear Lake tells you why the county is full of artists, authors, musicians and poets. I can’t imagine not being creative surrounded by such beauty." Though DeCanti’s mysteries could stand on their own, Kit typically wraps them around an intriguing romance. As if a mystery and romance weren’t enough, Kit DeCanti also deals with important social issues, while taking you on a vivid word tour of the fascinating Lake County, California. To date Kit has written four books in her Cobb Mt Mystery Series: SECRET ON COBB MOUNTAIN published in 2009, RETURN TO COBB MOUNTAIN published in 2010, KONOCTI CAVES published in 2011 and of course this fourth one: CROSSROADS INN TIME published in 2012. All four are set in beautiful Lake County; which besides sharing borders with Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino counties- also share in producing some of Northern California’s award winning wines. Besides her Cobb Mountain Mystery Series, other books DeCanti has out are SECRETS OF A LAZY COOK- or How I Survived Marriage to An Italian When I Hate The Kitchen, a cook book filled with great recipes and funny family stories and illustrated by Violet Baarrsch; THE ROCK HOUSE which is a children’s book based on the house Kit’s father was born it and was illustrated by Dan Spears; DeCanti also wrote the commentary for SpearsSpheres & SpaceSeekers- Absolutely Abstract, an art book by Dan Spears.
