This is a series of essays portraying the thoughts of Charles Huhtanen on the course of modern society with special emphasis on government, science, religion, health, and politics. "These essays have a lot to do with my own adventures and misadventures although some essays are the results of my experiments on subjects directly affecting me; such as the essay on the infl uence of time of year on blood pressure. Writing in such a way as to emulate the great writers of the past is but a dream evaporating with another revolution of our planet around our star. Writing a waste of time? Time better spent on something else? Not so. Reality does not leave after the reverie, rationalization assigns value to dreaming per se. Without it we would not have the great inventions that have transformed our world. Thus the genesis for this collection of refl ections on our times."
