The book's main theme is that nations, like human beings, have souls and minds. The soul of a nation determines the way it thinks and acts or reacts in the international scene. Equally, those souls are open to influences, such as religious ones, but some are more receptive than others are. The case under study (Sudan) reveals that an ancient religious heritage has a very strong bearing on the minds of all Sudanese, including decision-makers. This discovery helps all other actors in the international scene to predict the behaviour of Sudanese politicians and decision-makers.
